Green Larmer Tree...

We are always looking at ways we can reduce the long-term impact of the festival on the environment. See below for ideas on green living at Larmer Tree and for info about what we’re doing so far:

What we're doing:

  • Employing dedicated teams including the 1st Woodcutts Scouts to recycle the maximum amount of waste as possible.
  • Insisting that catering outlets use biodegradable trays and wooden cutlery rather than plastic.
  • Respecting the plants and animals and returning the gardens and fields to their original condition.
  • Encouraging workshop leaders to use recycled materials wherever possible.
  • Providing as much information via e-mail and on our website rather than as printed documents.
  • Recycling as much of our office waste as possible prior to the festival, including print cartridges, paper and equipment.
  • All unclaimed lost property is donated to charity.
  • Using recycled office stationery as much as possible.
  • Using local suppliers where possible to reduce transport and support the local economy.
  • Maintaining a ‘no glass’ policy to reduce the impact on the gardens and wildlife afterwards.
  • Conserving water by banning paddling pools and water bombs/balloons.

What you can do:

  • Put rubbish and recyclables in the correct bins.
  • If you have spare space in your car or wish to leave your car at home, sign up to www.liftshare.com or www.freewheelers.com and check the Info Tent at the festival for lift requests.
  • Try to keep the number of vehicles you bring to the festival to a minimum and help to reduce the impact of the festival on the environment and local communities.
  • If you don't need a car, travel to the festival on public transport, see our Location page for more info.
  • Try to bring as little packaging/waste to the festival as possible and take your rubbish home with you.
  • Use our award-winning toilet facilities, rather than polluting the great outdoors.
  • Saving water by not having paddling pools, water bombs and water balloons.
