What the 'Larmers' say...

What the press say...

"One of the most relaxing, and enjoyable festivals, ever."
James Tayler, Efestivals.co.uk

“…retro local comfort with the adventure of musical experimentation.”
Financial Times

“Bringing together their unique blend of music, street theatre, art and workshops – the team behind the event made sure that despite the bad weather, the festival was a great success.”
Listed Magazine

“The line-up of 50 artists, performing on six stages is so eclectic as to defy categorisation. One minute, you might be listening to drummers from Mali, the next an acoustic punk combo from Mexico. The facilities are excellent – clean toilets, drinking water, showers – and there is a Secret Garden, where you can kick back and get a Thai massage or a reflexology treatment.”
The Sunday Times

“The Larmer Tree event is one of the best kept secrets of the British world music scene, set in a green idyll on the Wiltshire-Dorset border that – were it not for the odd Eastern temple and Nepalese pagoda – could be straight out of Victorian England. There are even iridescent peacocks, which sit watching laid-back crowds laying back on well-tended lawns.”

“The most beautiful festival venue in the UK… if you only go to one this year, it has to be the Larmer Tree!”
Whole Wide World Records

“There is an infectious feel to the place. Larmer Tree, which stops selling tickets once its 4,000 limit has been met, is on a manageable scale. Our children could make forays on their own and easily find us again.”
The Times

“The Larmer Tree is magical. There’s something about the trees – you can see them growing… the music gets their boogie muscles twitching.”
Jools Holland

“It’s not every day that you see two peacock chicks meander across the main stage between acts, but then the Larmer Tree is no ordinary festival. Located in deepest Dorset, the Larmer Tree gardens provide a unique venue for a festival amid the gazebos and trees. Skilful use of lights and giant tree-mounted lanterns create a magical atmosphere after nightfall… With workshops and storytelling for all ages as well, Larmer Tree has a deserved reputation for being at the top of the family-orientated festivals. Roll on July!”

“A clear sign of success is its returning clientelle who simply come year after year. Before I’d ever visited the festival, I’d heard about it from enthusiastic friends. “We've been going every year for about 12 years - it's a fixture on the family calendar” says one. “It’s like a rainbow-coloured garden party with local beer, real sausages, beautiful gardens and good music”. The music policy is refreshingly open-minded, with an eclectic range of world music, folk, blues, dub, country, foot-stomping regulars and new discoveries each year. The kids activities are fantastic, and our girls spend hours through the weekend making their costumes for the carnival procession on the Sunday, which is our ritual end to the festival.”
